Stan was born in Italy in 1957 and came to Canada in 1960. He graduated with an MA in History from the University of Manitoba. From 1993 to 2001, he was Curator of Multicultural Studies at the Manitoba Museum. He has been with the Jewish Heritage Centre since 2001 where he is presently Director of Programs and Exhibits.
He has been involved in numerous local multicultural organizations and active within the Italian community. He has presented on various aspects of the history of Italians in Winnipeg and has written two books on the subject. He co-produced a documentary on Italians in Winnipeg which won the PRIX MANITOBA AWARD Certificate of Commendation from the American Association of State and Local History and the Margaret McWilliams Award (Honourable Mention) from the Manitoba Historical Society. In 2007 he was appointed Vice Consul of Italy.
Several of his articles have been published in Canadian Ethnic Studies, Manitoba History, Alberta History Review and The Journal of the Netherlands Museum Association.
