Monique has been the Executive Director of the Association of Manitoba Museums (AMM) for over 17 years. Prior to that she was the Curator at the Dugald Costume Museum (aka Costume Museum of Canada) for eight years. She has been involved with the AMM and the museum and heritage sector for 30 years.
Monique comes by her interest in history naturally. As a young child, she was fascinated by the stories of “the old times” told by her grandparents. Both her parents were historians; her mother was genealogist and author, tracing the family histories to the 1500s and writing books about them.
Monique was born and raised in the very small, and getting even smaller, town of Swan Lake in south-central Manitoba where she still regularly visits her mother and family. She has a diploma in Business Administration from Red River College, a Bachelor of Human Ecology, and a Master of Science from the University of Manitoba.
