Historic Sites of Manitoba: Wakopa School No. 308 (RM of Killarney-Turtle Mountain)The Wakopa School District was established formally in 1884 and a one-room schoolhouse operated at NE29-1-18W in what is now the Rural Municipality of Killarney-Turtle Mountain. The original building was destroyed by fire in 1891 and was replaced later that year. A larger building was constructed in 1926. The district was dissolved in 1967 and its catchment area became part of the Turtle Mountain School Division. Among the teachers of Wakopa School were Mary Reeves (1884) and Mrs. Art Maynard (1967).
