Historic Sites of Manitoba: Wacker Roadhouse (RM of Portage la Prairie)

The faded red siding on this building conceals the log construction of a former stopping place on the road between Portage la Prairie and the Red River Settlement. It was formerly located along the Assiniboine River and was brought to this site in the Rural Municipality of Portage la Prairie, and converted into a granary. It is privately owned. As of early 2012, it was no longer on the site, either having been demolished or moved.
