Historic Sites of Manitoba: Supreme Service Station (666 Selkirk Avenue, Winnipeg)

This one-storey wood frame, sheet metal, and stucco building at the southeast corner of Selkirk Avenue and McKenzie Street in Winnipeg, measuring 22 feet by 34 feet, was built in 1937 by contractor S. Hnatyshyn at a cost of about $2,500, as a service station for owner Joseph “Joe” Dutka. The building originally had a two service bays and two gasoline pumps that sold McColl-Frontenac Oil brand gasoline.

Later, an addition was made to the rear of the building and, at the time of a 2024 site visit, the building was extensively modified from its original appearance. It was being used only as a service garage.
