Historic Sites of Manitoba: St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church and Cemetery (Narol, RM of St. Clements)

The first Russian Orthodox church at this site in the Rural Municipality of St. Clements was built in 1911 and destroyed by fire in 1946. Construction of a present building began in 1948. It was affiliated with the Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church of America until 1970 when it received “autocephaly” (full self-government) from the Patriarchate of Moscow. Since then, it has been known simply as St. Nicholas Orthodox Church.
