Historic Sites of Manitoba: St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church and Cemetery (Municipality of Bifrost-Riverton)

This Roman Catholic church near Balaton Beach in the Municipality of Bifrost-Riverton was built in 1931 by Hungarian immigrants to this region. It operated as a mission of the Jesuit fathers until 1956 when it became a mission of the St. Philip Neri Parish at Arborg.

Known locally as “The Little Red Church,” it became “The Little Blue Church” in 1998 as a result of renovations. It is used intermittently for religious services.
