Historic Sites of Manitoba: Sovereign Life Building (287 Broadway, Winnipeg)

This building on Broadway in Winnipeg was designed by the local architectural firm of Moody Moore and Partners and built between 1956 and 1957 for the Sovereign Life Assurance Company. It was purchased in the late 1960s by Metropolitan Estate and Property Corporation and Poole Construction was commissioned to add two more floors to the structure, bringing it to the present six-storey configuration. In 2011, the building was upgraded and reclad.
