A monument in the Rural Municipality of Rockwood commemorates Shane Cripps (1972-2017), who planted a nearby shelterbelt of trees in May 1991. He and his 14-year-old son died tragically in a boating accident on the Burntwood River near Thompson on 22 May 2017.
