Historic Sites of Manitoba: Red Indian Service Station / Kildonan Service Station (1678 Main Street, Winnipeg)

Formerly located at the northwest corner of Main Street and Jefferson Avenue in West Kildonan (now part of Winnipeg), a one-storey brick and stucco building, measuring 22 feet by 32 feet, was built in 1932 as a service station for the McColl-Frontenac Oil Company to sell the firm's Red Indian and Marathon Blue brand gasolines. The building originally had a single service bay, two gasoline pumps, and a small office for the service station attendant.

Later known as the Kildonan Service Station, it sold Imperial Oil Limited (later Esso) brand gasoline. The building has been demolished and the site is now occupied by a new commercial building.
