Historic Sites of Manitoba: Pine Dock School (Northern Manitoba)

The first school in Pine Dock, a log building that had previously been used as a barn, was built in 1941. The first pupils were the three children of Mrs. Louise Lea Selkirk and eight other children from the Pine Dock area. Another school was built in 1950 and was also built from logs. In 1960, a new lumber school was built. When that became too small, an addition was built and a second teacher was hired. The school closed in June 2008.
