Historic Sites of Manitoba: Patterson School No. 2128 (Reedy Creek, RM of Alonsa)
The Patterson School District was established formally in June 1925 and a one-room schoolhouse operated at NE32-22-11W in what is now the Rural Municipality of Alonsa. It was named for Mr. and Mrs. Patterson who had organized the school district and directed the school board. After the original school building was destroyed by fire in 1926, classes were held in a two-storey wood frame residence built by the Pruden family nearby in SE4-23-11W until 1933, when classes moved into the local Anglican church until a new building was constructed. It opened in late 1935. The school closed in June 1965. The building was still standing at the site as of 1993. Among the teachers of Patterson School were Miss Edna Jane Iverach (1926-1927, wife of H. Rowland Shipley), Mabel Harvey (1927, 1929), Clara Sanderson (1928), Marion Jean Howard (1928-1929), Goldie R.
