Historic Sites of Manitoba: Conservation Monuments (Oak Hammock Marsh, RM of Rockwood)

A cairn at this site, erected by the Manitoba Chapter of The Wildlife Society in 1980, commemorates wildlife biologists Allan John Pakulak and Claude C. Holmstrom, and pilot Larry Francis, who were killed in an helicopter accident while conducting an aerial survey of the Netley-Libau Marsh on 25 July 1973. Originally at a site in the marsh, the monument was moved here in early 2010.

Also at the site are monuments relating to establishment of the Wildlife Management Area.
