This two-storey brick building on Fourth Street in Wawanesa, in the Municipality of Oakland-Wawanesa, is believed to have been built in 1904 to replace the Northern Pacific Hotel that had burned. The southern portion was built by lawyer Joseph Chambers (?-?) for use as his office. Sold in 1917 to P. R. Mulligan (?-?), it was later re-sold to Charles Venier (1884-1948).
In August 1933, the northern portion of the hotel was destroyed by fire. However, Venier was able to reopen in the unburned southern portion built by Chambers, which remains standing today. A beverage room was added to the north side in the 1960s.
