Historic Sites of Manitoba: Ninette Post Office (145 Argyle Street N, Ninette, RM of Prairie Lakes)

There are two recorded stories as to how the Ninette post office got its name. The first is that, under pressure, the district's postmaster inspector opened a novel and chose the first name he read, Ninette. The second story tells that a list of names was prepared, all of which were either taken or unsuitable. A Mr. McLean and a Mr. Colpitts discussed this problem with a Frenchman who suggested the name Ninette. The post office was established in 1884.

This one-storey brick post office building was constructed at Ninette in 1959.
