Historic Sites of Manitoba: Mount Nebo School No. 2050 (RM of Thompson)

The Mount Nebo School District was formally organized in December 1920 and a school building was constructed the next year in the southeast quarter of 19-4-6 west of the Principal Meridian, in the Rural Municipality of Thompson. It closed in January 1954. A monument at the site was unveiled during a school reunion held in August 1993.

Among the teachers who worked at Mount Nebo School were Annie Dunn (1921), Miss F. McNee (1922), Mabel Cook Bird (1923-1924), Miss M. Mawhinney (1925), Pearl McKerlie Burnett (1926-1927), Elsie Smith Clearwater (1929), Alice Sowrey (1930), Helen Dunsmore (1931-1933), Margaret Callum (1934-1937, 1939), Miss C. M. Stewart (1938), Dorine Sharpe Brown (1940), Ruth McNarry Meldrum (1941-1942), Mrs. F. Whitman (1943), Miss M. Harder (1944), Miss M. Lee (1945), Miss N. McLeod (1946), Alice Hunt (1947), Norman Paradis (1948), Doris Mathers (1949), Shirley Steeves (1949), Harry Bachewich (1950, 1952), Doreen Madill Storey (1951), Rosalie Orchard Brooks (1953), and Harry Martin (1954).
