This 1½-storey dark red brick and wood shingle siding house on Pritchard Avenue in Winnipeg, measuring 22 feet by 30 feet, was built in 1929 at a cost of about $2,500, for owner Greg “Harry” Monchak (1880-1949), a labourer employed by the boarding contractor firm of R. Smith and Company. After his death, the house continued to be occupied by his widow Maria “Mary” Monchak (1891-1967).
Later subdivided into a duplex, it reverted back to a single family residence around 2007. At the time of 2025 and 2026 site visits, the house was slightly modified from its original appearance.
