Historic Sites of Manitoba: Milton School No. 665 (RM of Thompson)

The Milton School District was established formally in April 1891 and a one-room schoolhouse operated at NE22-4-6W in the Rural Municipality of Thompson. The district was dissolved in 1951. As of 1997, the building still stood at the site and was being used as a granary. It was gone at the time of an April 2015 site visit. Since then, a commemorative sign has been installed.

Among the teachers who worked at Milton School through the years were Eleanor M. Smith (1893), Arthur Martin (1893), William Morrison (1894), J. L. Greenway (1895), John Mallise (1896), D. E. Dorrance (1897), Theodore Dennison (1898-1899), Evelyn K. Baker (1900), P. J. McDonald (1901), Nellie Duncan (1905), Florence Thomson (1906-1907), Clara Smith (1907), William Scott Collins (1908), Ethel A. Gowan (1909), Gladys Goulden (1910), Leone Stubbs (1911-1912), Myrtle McNevin (1913), Anne Watson (1913), Eva Flaherty (1913-1915), Elizabeth Oakes (1915), Evelyn Spearin (1916), A. M. Reid (1917), Nettie M. Sprott (1917), Margaret Godkin (1917), Florence McConnell (1918), Mina H. Terry (1918-1920), Mabel Russell (1920), Mary J. Stewart (1920), Dorothy Holland (1921-1923), Jean C. Allison (1923-1924), Jean A. Burnett (1924-1927), Marjorie Hunter (1927-1928), Florence G. Stewart (1929-1936), Doris E. Skinner (1936-1939), Dolce Eleanor Argue (1939-1942), Ellen Lucille Pulfer (1942-1944), Pearl Campbell (1944-1945), Miss M. Sawchuck (1945-1946), Miss A. Aerssons (1946-1947), Miss H. Thomasson (1947-1949), and Noreen Porter (1949-1950).
