Historic Sites of Manitoba: Maritime Apartments (477 Wardlaw Avenue, Winnipeg)

This three-storey brick block on Wardlaw Avenue in Winnipeg, measuring 54 feet by 116 feet, was designed by local architect Edgar Prain and built in 1926 by day labour at a cost of about $70,000. Original plans called for it to have 29 two-, three-, and four-room apartments. Following an extensive renovation between 2006 and 2008, the building now has 14 apartments: two in the basement, and four on each of the upper three floors.
