The Maple Creek School District was established formally in October 1936 and a one-room schoolhouse operated at SE26-16-10E in the Rural Municipality of Lac du Bonnet. The school closed in January 1966 and the district was dissolved later that year. Its catchment area became part of the Lac du Bonnet Consolidated School District and later the Agassiz School Division.
In 2019, the Lac du Bonnet Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee erected a monument at the former school site.
