Historic Sites of Manitoba: La Riviere-Snowflake War Memorial (La Riviere, Municipality of Pembina)

This monument at La Riviere, in the Municipality of Pembina, was dedicated to those from the La Riviere and Snowflake areas who gave their lives in the First World War and Second World War. It was built in 1961, at Snowflake, by members of Border Branch No. 207 of the Royal Canadian Legion, using stones from an old house. The house, originally built in 1901, had been demolished in 1960. The monument was moved to La Riviere on 10 July 2006 after the Border Branch had surrendered its charter in 1986.
