Historic Sites of Manitoba: Keating Homestead Monument (Keating Road, Steinbach)

A stone monument on the northwest side of Steinbach marks the former site of a homestead established here, in the northwest quarter-section of 10-7-6 east of the Principal Meridian, in 1872 by irish immigrant Peter Keating (1851-1930). Married to Christina Nelson (1870-1962) in 1889, they had ten children. The road alongside the monument also commemorates the Keating family and their community contributions.
