Historic Sites of Manitoba: Kapstein House (400 Powers Street, Winnipeg)

This 2½-storey wood frame and wood shingle siding house at the southwest corner of Powers Street and St. John's Avenue in Winnipeg, measuring 20 feet by 28 feet, and 10 feet by 10 feet, was designed by local architect Max Zev Blankstein. It was built in 1912 by owner/contractors Abraham Cohen and Abraham Meyerowitz at a cost of about $3,500. They sold it to printer Max Kapstein.

At the time of 2025 and 2026 site visits, the house was relatively unmodified from its original appearance.
