Historic Sites of Manitoba: Jewish Heritage Centre of Western Canada (123 Doncaster Street, Winnipeg)

The Jewish Heritage Centre of Western Canada comprises the Jewish Historical Society (founded 1968), the Holocaust Education Centre (1998), and the Jewish Museum (1998).

The Freeman Foundation Holocaust Education Centre provides
• a Holocaust Museum with artefacts contributed by local Survivors
• publicly accessible portal to more than 57,000 oral testimonies
• educational programming for school and other groups
• professional development for teachers, and
• an annual symposium for up to 5,000 students on-line and other programming.

The Jewish Historical Society provides:
• lectures and panel discussions on the Jewish history of Western Canada, especially Manitoba and adjacent areas of Saskatchewan and Ontario
• videos posted on YouTube Jewish Heritage Centre of Western Canada
• comprehensive genealogical records on Jews in Manitoba and adjacent regions of Saskatchewan and Ontario including gravestone photographs
• genealogical researching on request
• the Irma and Marvin Penn Archive with more than 1000 archival boxes of documents, 70,000 photographs, 4000 artefacts, 1300 sound and video recordings

The Marion and Ed Vickar Jewish Museum provides exhibits in 80 linear feet of large display windows.

The Centre's website offers:
• current programs and events listings
• past museum exhibits and historical vignettes
• Jewish newspapers back to 1913
• educational resources on the Holocaust and antisemitism
• and more
