This 2½-storey wood frame, wood plank and wood shingle siding, Edwardian Queen Anne-style house is at the northeast corner of Luxton Avenue and Scotia Street in Winnipeg. Measuring 20 feet by 28 feet, and 10 feet by 12 feet, it was designed by civil engineer Stanislas “Stanley” Skuzanski and built in 1909 by day labour at a cost of about $2,000, for owner Mural Willis Argue. He initially rented the house to various tenants until 1912 when he sold it to George Hartley, a stable worker, along with his wife Esther A. Hartley.
In 1930, the building was purchased by John Ketter, a butcher at the meat-packing firm of P. Burns and Company, who continued to own it into the 1950s. At the time of a 2016 site visit, the house was in rough condition but at the time a visit in 2017, it had been restored to its original appearance.
