Historic Sites of Manitoba: Gobert Family Grain Elevator (2433 St. Mary’s Road, Winnipeg)

A small wooden grain elevator, dairy barn, and residence along St. Mary’s Road in Winnipeg were constructed around 1920 by dairy farmer George R. Gobert (1900-1975). The dairy was operated by the second generation until 1975 when the cattle were sold but the grain farm continued until 2008. The land was expropriated by the provincial government to enable construction of a high-speed intersection at the nearby Perimeter Highway and the elevator was demolished in July 2022.
