This one-storey dark red brick building at the southwest corner of McGregor Street and Anderson Avenue in Winnipeg, measuring 38 feet by 44 feet, was built in 1924 by day labour at a cost of about $4,000, for owner Samual Segal. It was used as a neighbourhood grocery store with a residence in the rear.
Never occupied by Segal, he sold the building to grocer Alex Gilmore. It was later known as Fred's Grocery, operated by Fred Grenhard. At the time of a 2025 site visit, the building was slightly modified from its original appearance with the bricks painted blue and white.
