Historic Sites of Manitoba: Mahatma Gandhi Statue (Israel Asper Way, Winnipeg)

On 27 August 2004, this sculpture of Mahatma Gandhi (1869-1948) was gifted to the Friends of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights by Her Excellency Mrs. Shashi U. Tripathi, High Commissioner for India to Canada, on behalf of the Government of India (Indian Council for Cultural Relations). The gift was made possible through the efforts of Dr. Naranjan S. Dhalla, founder of the India Canada Culture and Heritage Association.
