Historic Sites of Manitoba: First Icelandic Birth in Western Canada (RM of Gimli)

This monument in the Rural Municipality of Gimli commemorates the birthplace of Jon Olafur Johannson, the first child of Icelandic descent born in Western Canada, on 22 October 1875. The monument was dedicated by the Arnason family to Petrina and Gudjon Arnason.
