Historic Sites of Manitoba: Devon Lodge / Whiteway Cottage (31 Fifth Avenue, Gimli, RM of Gimli)

This private cottage on Fifth Avenue in Gimli was built in 1922 by Alfred Pike Whiteway (1874-1953) and named Devon Lodge for the county in England from which he had immigrated to Canada around 1905. Maintained in its original condition by his family for over 90 years, the basic side-gable building has a high level of integrity. Exterior qualities include the sheathing, original windows and door, and window canopies. The interior is filled with original furnishings and artifacts.
