Historic Sites of Manitoba: Forsythe Grain Elevator / Reliance Grain Elevator / Manitoba Pool Grain Elevator (Curtis, RM of Portage la Prairie)
A 30,000-bushel wooden grain elevator at the siding of Curtis, on the CNR Gladstone Subdivision in the Rural Municipality of Portage la Prairie, was built around 1938 by Portage businessman Andy Forsythe. Sold to Reliance Grain in 1946, the elevator was re-sold to Manitoba Pool Elevators in 1948 and a large balloon annex was built beside it in 1951. The facility closed in July 1972 and was moved to the Elm River Hutterite Colony.
