Historic Sites of Manitoba: Burge House (RM of Rockwood)

The land on which this two-storey, wood frame house in the Rural Municipality of Rockwood is located was acquired in 1889 by William Burge (1849-1917), who came from Somersetshire, England that same year. The late-nineteenth century structure was home to Burge, his wife Elizabeth Vowles (1852-1926) and their five children. It was subsequently sold out of the family in the late 1950s.

As of a 2024 site visit, the building is still being used as a private residence.
