Historic Sites of Manitoba: Benny’s Service Station (Highway 44, RM of Whitemouth)

In 1958, Benjamin H. “Benny” Besel (1923-2007) built and operated a service station at the junction of Highways 44 and 11. In latter years, his son Allan Besel took over the business which closed in 1994. Thirty years later, the intersection is still referred to unofficially as Benny’s Corner.
