Memorable Manitobans: Joseph Sidney Wolkof (1882-?)Educator. Born in Romania on 10 December 1882, son of Simon Wolkoff (1853-?) and Mary A. Wolkoff (1860-?), he immigrated with his family to Canada in 1888, and resided within the Rural Municipality of Stanley by 1901. He became a teacher and worked in rural Manitoba, including at Winkler School (1907-1911, Principal) and Kronsfeld School (1922-1927, Principal 1923-1927), and Maple Leaf School (1927-1928). On 11 August 1907, he married Agatha Klassen (1885-?) and had two children; Albert Wolkof (1908-?) and Karl Wolkof (1910-?). His later whereabouts are not yet determined.
