Memorable Manitobans: John George Kellett (1884-?)Merchant. Born at Glasgow, Scotland, 1884. Son of Mr. and Mrs. George Kellett. Married Ruby Grace Stillwell. Has one son and one daughter. Apprenticed in early life to baking trade in London, Ward & Co. of Kensington. Came to Canada in 1908, employed by Webb of Yonge Street; worked in Winnipeg, Alexander, Killarney. Joined Canadian Expeditionary Force, February 1915, 1st Canadian Mounted Rifles. France, December 1916; Yypres front, Vimy Ridge, Hill 70, Passchendaele, Areas, Cambrai, Amiens, Canal du Nord, Valenciennes and Mons; gassed at Oppy Wood; after the war, opened business in Killarney, present business founded in 1920. Member of the Killarney Board of Trade. Member of the IOOF, Put Noble Grand of Lodge 28. Member, Winnipeg Retail Merchants’Association. Address, Killarney, Manitoba.
