Memorable Manitobans: Eric Brown-Wilkinson(1888-c1924)Lawyer. Born at Bath, England, 1888. Son of Henry and Elizabeth Julia (Clark) Brown-Wilkinson. Married Hazel Elizabeth Betts, 1912. Educated at Framlingham College, Lancing College (Sussex), Nottingham University. Was in Gibraltar and Morrocco, 1905-09, Eastern Telegraph Co. Came to Manitoba in 1910, Telegraph and Maintenance Department, Canadian Pacific Railway. Articled in law to Elliott, MacNeil & Deacon. Admitted to practice, 1918. Called to the Bar, 1919. Was Sergeant-Major of Fort Garry Horse in pre-war days. Joined Canadian Expeditionary Force, 1914; Overseas, transferred to Artillery; rejoined Fort Garry Horse; France, 1916; commissioned, 1916. At the end of the war returned to Canada and resumed study of law and was called to the Bar of Manitoba. Opened practice with present firm (MacNeil,Brown-Wilkinson, Carey and Bowler). Firm are solicitors for Army and Navy Veterans (Dominion). Solicitors for the province and district GWVA, Winnipeg branch, Amputation Association. Captain Brown-Wilkinson was Dominion vice-president Army and Navy Veterans, 1922-23; president, 1924; provincial president for Manitoba, 1920-21-22. On the Executive of the Winnipeg Conservative Association. Vice-president, South Winnipeg Conservative Association. President, Winnipeg Field Hockey Association. Secretary, Young Conservative Cricket Association. Champions, 1913-14. Member of the Blackstone Club, Canadian Club, St. George’s Society, Commonwealth Club. Address, McIntyre Block, Winnipeg.
