The Franco-Manitobans School Division was created in September 1994 when an implementation of Section 23 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms granted official language minorities the right to manage schools in their own language. It is the only school division in Manitoba covering the entire province and, in 2025, it manages 24 schools.
